Join us and be a part of the Maine State Bicentennial Parade on Saturday, May 15th, 2021

The parade t-shirt “PEACE – a state of Maine” pays homage to the Maine Bicentennial celebration while recognizing that Maine has a long history with a call to peace. Green Acre Baha’i School in Eliot, Maine raised the first known peace flag in the world in 1894. The history of the Baha’i Faith in Maine dates back further. Sarah Jane Farmer founded the Green Acre Baha’i School as a place of retreat including the study of comparative religion and spiritual thought. The personal stationery of Sarah Jane Farmer was adorned with a Dove. That Dove motif is displayed on the t-shirt. The original Peace Flag was green lettering on a while background. In the spirit of the original flag, we have kept that color combination.
